A Dalmatian Villa Week

9 nights

Ten days for the whole family in one extraordinary house, grandparents on one floor, parents and toddlers on another, teenagers in the converted boathouse with their own entrance. A private chef stocks the kitchen, a captain stands by with the boat, and a vetted nanny holds the youngest ones during the long lunches. The grown-ups remember how it felt to vacation before they had children; the children remember the summer the cousins all came together.

The Villa

We hand-select the villa to match your group size, but our flagship is Villa Sheherezade in Dubrovnik, a fully restored 1920s waterfront mansion with seven bedrooms, a heated pool above the sea, a private dock, and a 3,000-square-foot terrace built for long family lunches. For larger groups, we look at Villa Dubrovnik Palace on the Lapad peninsula (10 bedrooms across the main villa and guesthouse) or Villa Sky on Hvar for a more boutique island stay. Every property comes fully staffed: housekeeper, private chef, daily concierge, and an on-call nanny matched to your children’s ages and languages.

Day 1

Arrival & a Welcome Dinner

Private transfers collect every arriving group from Dubrovnik or Split airports and bring everyone to the villa. The chef has a welcome dinner ready, grilled fish from this morning’s market, summer vegetables from a Konavle farmer, a Pošip white from the Pelješac peninsula. After dinner, the children find their rooms; the grandparents find the terrace.

Day 2

Old Town Dubrovnik, Privately Guided

Morning walk through Old Town with a local historian, the city walls before they fill, the smaller cloisters, an early stop for sladoled. The kids ride the cable car up Mount Srđ; the grandparents tour the synagogue and Rector’s Palace at their own pace. Lunch at Restaurant 360 inside the walls, with views over the harbor. Afternoon back at the villa for the pool, with the nanny watching the little ones so parents can nap.

Day 3

The Elaphiti Islands by Private Yacht

Your captain meets you at the villa dock at 9 AM in a private 50-foot motor yacht. Swimming stops at Koločep, Šipan, and a long lunch at Bowa on Šipan, open-air, on a private bay, lobster pulled from the trap that morning. Back to the villa by sunset, the kids exhausted in the best way.

Day 4

A Quiet Villa Day

Built into the itinerary on purpose. Breakfast at your own pace. Adults choose between a guided sea kayak around the Old Town walls, a private cooking class with the chef (focused on peka, meat and vegetables slow-cooked under a bell), or simply staying in a robe by the pool. The children swim, take a paddleboard lesson from the dock, and have an early dinner in the villa while parents enjoy a quieter grown-up meal on the terrace.

Day 5

Mljet National Park

Private yacht north to Mljet, the wildest of the Dalmatian islands, two saltwater lakes inside a pine-forested national park, a 12th-century Benedictine monastery on an island within the lake. Picnic lunch on the boat or at the monastery cafe. Bike rentals on shore for the energetic, kayak for the curious, hammocks under the pines for everyone else.

Day 6

Pelješac for the Adults, Beach Club for the Kids

This is the day the grown-ups have been waiting for. A private driver takes the adults across the new Pelješac Bridge to the wine peninsula, tastings at Grgić Vina (the iconic Dingăč) and Korta Katarum, lunch at Konoba Mlinica, a slow afternoon at Trstenik beach. Meanwhile back at the villa, the nanny and a beach-club concierge handle the kids, boat to a child-friendly cove, lunch of homemade pizza, an afternoon of inflatables. Everyone reconvenes on the terrace at sunset.

Day 7

Korčula

Private yacht to Korčula, often called ‘little Dubrovnik’, a smaller walled town, vineyards on the hillsides, and a slower pace. Walking tour led by a guide who knows which courtyards children will remember. Lunch at LD Restaurant at Lešić Dimitri Palace, on the waterfront. Optional Moreška sword dance performance in town in summer. Back to the villa by mid-evening.

Day 8

A Grandparent Day

Designed around the older generation’s pace. A late morning, a private guided visit to Trsteno Arboretum (the oldest in Croatia, used as the Red Keep gardens in Game of Thrones), lunch at Konavoski Dvori in the green Konavle valley, and a klapa (Croatian a cappella) performance arranged just for your group in a Konavle stone church. The kids and parents either join or stay back at the villa with the chef and a movie projector on the terrace.

Day 9

A Final Long Lunch

The whole family on the yacht for the day, with the chef on board. Long lazy stops in three coves the captain knows well, different from the ones you’ve seen so far. A late, multi-course lunch on the water, fingers sticky with watermelon. Back to the villa for a final sunset on the terrace, a champagne toast from grandparents to grandchildren, dinner you do not have to plan.

Day 10

Farewells

Private transfers handle every departure on its own schedule. The grandparents leave first; the teenagers complain about waking up; the youngest one cries about leaving the nanny. As it should be.
